Feature Friday: Anna Christian
Anna graduated from Truman State University with a degree in Studio Art and a minor in Art History. And while she's originally from St. Louis, she's lived in #Chicago for over a year and considers it home.
Anna's art of choice is abstract acrylic paintings and they are AMAZING. It was so fascinating to talk with Anna because she captured exactly what it's like to be an artist.
When I asked her what inspired her become a painter, she shared,
"I wouldn’t say there was a particular moment that made me realize I wanted to be an artist. I still struggle to call myself an artist, to be honest. But art has just always been in my life."
How many other #ladybosses feel that way about their life passions? It's something you've always known inside you, and while it can be a struggle sometimes to own it; it's your life.
Anna also share that a huge realization she had recently was that creating art is work. "I think it was a huge wake up call when I realized that art doesn’t just stem from inspiration. Creating art is work. I have to force myself some days to produce work rather than sit on the couch and binge on my latest Netflix show. But I want to be a part of the world that creates beautiful, meaningful pieces."
One piece that Anna's been working on recently is a Zodiac Calendar. In partnership with her friend, Becca, they are creating a calendar that will feature images applied to the month the zodiac sign primarily falls under. On each calendar page, they will outline the signs ruling planet, element, and quality. And they will include a color guide and symbol guide so you are able to gain a better understanding of each sign, and where the art was formulated. This calendar (and possibly individual prints) will be ready soon for purchase!
Thank you SO much for sharing your story and wisdom with us Anna Christian. You are an inspiration to all of us at ladyboss.
